# Parking regulations in Køge

Køge city centre is divided into three parking zones – red, yellow, and green. The first two hours of parking are free of charge in all zones. After that, the rules vary depending on in which zone you are parking your car.

## Parking map

On the map, you can find the general parking zones in the city centre, as well as parking areas throughout the municipality.

You can search for a specific address using the search field in the upper right corner.

## Parking zones

### Red zone *(marked red on the parking map)*

The red zone covers the most central streets such as Torvet, Brogade, Nørregade, Allegade, and Bjerggade. The following rules apply:

- **Free parking.** Up to 2 hours.
- **Time limit.** Maximum 2 hours – parking cannot be extended.
- **Parking disc.** Must always be used and set correctly.

### Yellow zone *(marked yellow on the parking map)*

The yellow zone is located around the central town area. The following rules apply:

- **Free parking.** Up to 2 hours.
- **Extension.** It is possible to extend parking beyond the 2 hours at a cost of DKK 10 per hour.
- **Registration via app/meter.** Parking must always be registered when starting your parking via a meter or app – also during the free period.

### Green zone *(marked green on the parking map)*

The green zone covers the more peripheral areas. The following rules apply:

- **Free parking.** Up to 2 hours.
- **Extension.** It is possible to extend parking beyond the 2 hours at a cost of DKK 10 per hour, up to a maximum of DKK 30 in total.
- **Registration via app.** Parking must always be registered when starting your parking via app – also during the free period.

Always check local signage, as there may be specific exceptions.

## Payment

You can pay for your parking in the following ways:

- **Credit card / MobilePay.** You can pay at the parking machines located at the parking areas using a credit card or MobilePay.
- **App.** You can also choose to pay for your parking via a parking app. When paying through an app, a small service fee may be charged by the app provider.
The following parking apps can be used: [ApcoaFlow](https://www.apcoaflow.dk/ " ApcoaFlow"), [Easypark](https://koege.easypark.net/ "Easypark"), [OKAppen](https://www.ok.dk/privat/produkter/appen/parkering "OKAppen"), [ParkMan](https://www.parkman.io/da/parkerings-app "ParkMan"), [ParkOne](https://parkone.dk/ "ParkOne") or [ParkPark](https://parkpark.dk/ "ParkPark").

**Important to know**

- Cash is not accepted.
- There will not be a physical parking ticket issued for the windshield.

All registration and enforcement are carried out using your vehicle’s license plate.

## Free parking

There are several options for free parking. In addition to the first 2 hours in the parking zones, parking is also free in all three zones in the evening and on public holidays - just as it is free to park outside the parking zones.

### Værftsvej *(Marked with black hatching on the parking map)*

At the parking areas on Værftsvej, you can park free of charge.

### Kongsberg Allé (Marked with black on the parking map)

At the parking areas on Kongsberg Allé, you can park free of charge for up to 12 hours.

### Evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Parking is free:

- On weekdays between 18:00 and 08:00.
- On Saturdays after 15:00 pm.
- On Sundays and public holidays all day.

This also applies to parking in the red, yellow and green zones.

### Outside the three zones

Outside the red, yellow, and green parking zones, parking on public parking spaces is free of charge.

## Private, publicly accessible parking areas

There are parking areas that are privately owned but open to public parking. Different rules may apply here.

All questions regarding parking on private parking areas should be directed to the parking company indicated on the signage at the location.

### Private parking areas with 2 hours of free parking

Some private parking areas also offer 2 hours of free parking. It is important that drivers familiarize themselves with the specific rules that apply to each individual parking area.
Rules are indicated by black signage on site.

### Køge Kyst paid parking *(Marked grey on the parking map)*

The parking areas at Collstropgrunden on Østre Banevej and Bag Haverne are paid parking areas operated under Køge Kyst.
Rules are indicated by signage on site.

You can read more on [the Køge Kyst website](https://koegekyst.dk/byen/parkering/ "the Køge Kyst website").

### Søndre Havn *(Marked turquoise on the parking map)*

At Søndre Havn, there is short-term on-street parking, as well as parking in the municipal parking garage.
Rules are indicated by signage on site.

## Parking Information – Fines, special vehicles, and disabled parking

###

Have you received a parking fine?

Get an overview of the rules for parking fines in Køge Municipality, how to pay, and what to do if you want to appeal. You can also read tips to help you avoid receiving a fine.

### Parking fine

You will receive a parking fine if you violate the rules set out in the Road Traffic Act or Køge Municipality’s parking regulations. The fine will state which rule you have violated.
It is always your own responsibility to know and follow the rules.

### Payment of the fine

- **Payment deadline.** You must pay the fine no later than 10 days after receiving it.
- **Payment options.** You can pay using the payment slip attached to the fine or by bank transfer.
- **Payment via bank.** If you have lost the payment slip, you can pay via bank transfer – remember to include the vehicle’s registration number:
Jyske Bank, Registration no.: 5035 and Account no.: 4690005.
- **Payment from abroad.** When paying from abroad, include the vehicle’s registration number and the following details:
IBAN: DK61 5035 0004 6900 05 - SWIFT: JYBADKKK
- **Reminder fees.** If you do not pay on time, you will receive a reminder with a fee of DKK 250. If you still do not pay, you will receive another reminder with an additional fee of DKK 250.
If the fine is still not paid, it will be forwarded to the Danish Debt Collection Agency, which can recover the amount.
- **No discounts.** There are no discounts for pensioners or students.

### Instalment plan

If you have difficulty paying the full amount at once, you can contact Køge Kommune, the Collection Department - email opk@koege.dk - and arrange an instalment plan with 2–3 payments.

### View or appeal the fine

You can view or appeal your parking fine through our self-service solution.

You will need the vehicle’s registration number and the parking fine number.

The appeal must be submitted digitally – complaints made by phone will not be processed.

Acting in good faith does not necessarily mean that the fine will be cancelled.

[Appeal a parking fine](https://pafgift.koege.dk/samlfe/koege.aspx?id=pafgift_koege "Appeal a parking fine")

### Decision on your appeal

Køge Municipality will process your appeal, and the decision cannot be appealed to any other authority.

If you still disagree, the case can be brought before the bailiff’s court via the Danish Debt Collection Agency.

You must pay the costs yourself unless your appeal is fully upheld.

### Avoid parking fines

Most fines are caused by small mistakes. Therefore, remember:

- **Parking on the sidewalk is prohibited.** Do not park on the sidewalk. It is prohibited throughout Køge Kommune. This means no part of the vehicle may be on the sidewalk, the vehicle is parked or temporarily stopped.
- **Parking disc.** Your vehicle must display a parking disc – and only one.
- **Incorrectly set parking disc.** Set the parking disc correctly. A malfunctioning parking disc is not a valid reason for cancelling a parking fine.
- **Stopping and parking.** Observe signs for parking and stopping.
- **Time-limited parking.** When parking is time-limited, you must leave the zone once the time has expired. It is not enough to reset the parking disc or move the car to another space within the same zone.
In the red zone, you may park for free for up to 2 hours.
Read more under: Parking zones.
- **Missing parking registration/payment.** You will receive a parking fine if you do not register your parking or if your paid time has expired.
In the yellow and green zones, you must register your parking upon arrival, even though the first 2 hours are free of charge.

###

Parking of motorhomes, trailers, lorries, etc.

### Motorhomes

On Cementvej, there are 3 special parking spaces for motorhomes. You can park there for up to 24 hours.

### Trailers and Towed Vehicles

The rules depend on the parking zone, the weight, and whether the trailer is attached to a car:

**Vehicles under 3,500 kg**

- **Without a car.** Trailers may only be parked separately on roads within the green zone, in accordance with posted signs. General parking rules apply.
Parking must end before 6:00 PM.
Read more in the section: Parking zones
- **Attached to a car.** You can park in all parking spaces if the trailer is attached to a car, even after 6:00 PM. General parking rules apply.
- **In the city area, without a car.** Inside city limit signs (outside the parking zones), you can park the trailer alone on the road from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. You are not allowed to park it alone on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.
- **In the city** **area, attached to a car.** Inside city limit signs, you can park on the road also after 6:00 PM every day if the trailer is attached to a car.

**Vehicles over 3,500 kg**

- **Parking spaces.** Not allowed in parking spaces unless signs say it is permitted.
- **City roads.** Inside city limit signs, you can park on the road from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
Not allowed to park on roads on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.

### Electric Vehicles

There are charging stations in several places, including Køge city centre, many public parking areas, at the hospital, and in industriel/business areas.

When you park at a charging station, the same rules apply as for normal parking. There may be payment, time limits, or a requirement that your car is actively charging.

### Motorcycles

Motorcycles generally follow the same parking rules as other motor vehicles.

###

                                    Disabled parking

With a disabled parking permit, you can park free of charge in most public parking spaces marked with blue signs. Here you will find an overview of the rules, your options, and what to be aware of when parking.

### Parking with a disabled parking permit

If you have a valid disabled parking permit, you can park free of charge in public parking spaces – except in the parking garage on Søndre Molevej.

**Remember**

- The disabled parking permit must always be clearly visible in the windscreen.
- The entire front of the permit, including the number and dates, must be visible from outside.
- If disabled parking spaces are occupied, you may use regular spaces under the same conditions.

### Special rules

Pay attention to signage – it determines how long you may stay:

- **Loading and unloading.** You may park for 15 minutes in areas where only loading and unloading is permitted.
- **Short-stop errands permitted.** You may park for 15 minutes in pedestrian streets marked “short-stop errands permitted” or in areas with “no parking” signs.
- **No stopping.** No stopping zones must always be respected.
- **15–30 minute parking.** Parking is allowed for up to 1 hour in places where parking is otherwise limited to 15 or 30 minutes.
- **1, 2 or 3 hours parking.** Unlimited parking is allowed in areas where 1, 2 or 3-hour parking is permitted, unless a time limit is specifically indicated on a sign with a disabled symbol. If a time limit is stated, it must be followed, and the parking disc must be set.
- **Red, yellow and green zones without time limits.** You may park free of charge and without time limits in red, yellow and green zones, in all non-disabled parking spaces.
- **Parking garage Søndre Molevej.** You must pay to park in the parking garage – even if you have a disabled parking permit.

**Important to know**

- The rules apply on public roads.
- On private areas, different rules may apply – often with payment and time limits. See signage at the location.
